How to Handle the ‘I Don’t Have Enough Time’ MLM Objection

Posted by

It’s probably one of the top three most common objections people give to a network marketing or MLM opportunity: “I don’t have enough time.”

People are busy and loaded with obligations. Work, family, hobbies, health, chores, church volunteer work. Everyone’s schedules are different.

Even if you are halfway serious about your network marketing business, you’re going to hear this objection several times. Here are the proper ways to handle it so you get a positive result.

What They Really Mean

With any MLM objection, it always helps to understand what people really mean. When someone says “I don’t have enough time,” typically it’s an excuse for just not really wanting to do it. But that might not be the case.

People might want to do the business, but they think it will require way more time than it actually does.

The truth is, everyone is busy. So, it can be hard to envision how growing a business will work in an already-busy schedule.

Everyone Has 24 Hours

Everyone has 24 hours in a day. You. Me. Bill Gates. Elon Musk. Richard Branson.

We all have the EXACT same amount of time. To the second.

Of course, it’s how we use that time that matters. It’s that simple, but it’s not always easy to implement.

Relate to them. You may have thought the exact same thing when you got started. Maybe you have found ways to work your business around your schedule.

Plus, anyone who “doesn’t have time” NEEDS another income opportunity, even if they are financially well off. If you have money and no time, that’s not freedom, the same way having time but no money is not freedom.

It’s A Matter Of Value

When people tell you “I don’t have enough time,” what they can’t see is the value of your network marketing opportunity.

If something is important enough to you, you will make the time. If I told you that after 30 days of doing one particular activity for one hour each day, I would give you a brand new Ferrari totally free, would you do it?

Of course you would. Not only would you, but it would instantly become the #1 most important activity you do every single day for the 30 days.

See how that works? Your priorities would totally change. You would MAKE the time.

So, “not having enough time” is not the real issue. The issue is not seeing the value in devoting the time.

Help Them Figure A Time Commitment

In my experience, most people who give this MLM objection assume that the business will require a lot more time that it actually will.

So, if you get this objection, work with the person to help them figure out what they want out of the business and how much time it will take to reach their goals. You could ask them:

“How much time do you think it will take?”

Or

“How much time each week would you have to devote to this business?”

Typically, most network marketers devote about five to 14 hours per week to their business. Very few work their business anywhere near full time.

So, help them figure out, realistically, how much money they can start generating given the amount of time they could carve out. Help them paint a picture of what they can get out of the business.

With most people, all they are lacking is a bigger vision. Help them see that vision.
